01 Project Overview

What We Built & Why

We delivered Now Shipping, an enterprise logistics platform for Egypt that unifies merchants, courier operations, and internal teams within a single system. The platform centralizes shipment orchestration, real-time tracking, financial visibility, and multi-channel integrations (including e-commerce), replacing fragmented workflows with a structured, auditable operations layer. The goal was to provide businesses with end-to-end control over fulfillment while enabling scalable, multi-role coordination across the logistics lifecycle.

The core challenge was eliminating manual, disconnected logistics workflows and replacing them with a consistent, system-driven process. This required enforcing a single source of truth across multiple stakeholders (business, courier, operations), handling external integrations reliably (e.g., e-commerce sync and webhooks), and ensuring financial accuracy in payout-related flows. Additionally, the system had to support complex state transitions (delivery progress, exceptions, returns) while maintaining performance across web, mobile, and real-time channels.

The platform was built on a Node.js (Express) and MongoDB architecture, enabling rapid iteration over a flexible logistics domain model. A monolithic service design was intentionally chosen to consolidate APIs, dashboards, integrations, and background jobs into a single deployable unit for operational simplicity. EJS-based dashboards support internal and business users, while REST APIs with JWT power mobile clients. Real-time updates are handled via Socket.IO, and Firebase Admin enables push notifications. Scheduled jobs (node-cron) ensure reliability for payouts and external sync processes. This stack balances development velocity, scalability, and operational control for a production logistics environment.
