What We Built & Why
We built a unified school operations platform for Sho3lat Elnour that consolidates enrollment, classes, attendance, billing, and parent communication into a single system, enabling administrators and families to operate from one consistent source of truth.
Sho3lat Elnour relied on fragmented and partly manual workflows, which led to inconsistent records, delayed updates, and limited visibility across attendance, finance, and communication. Attendance data from physical devices needed to be captured reliably and reflected in the system without delay or loss.
The platform needed to maintain a consistent link between student records, enrollment status, and financial data as changes occurred. It also had to support real-time or near real-time attendance inputs from devices while still allowing administrative corrections and institutional rules to be applied.
In addition, the system required a clear separation between staff tools and parent access, ensuring operational control for administrators and a simple, focused experience for families.
The platform is built using Node.js, Express, and MongoDB, following an API-first architecture that supports both the admin dashboard and the parent mobile application.
The admin system handles core operations like students, classes, attendance, billing, and reporting, while the mobile app provides parents with real-time access to attendance, financial status, and notifications.
Attendance is integrated with ZKTeco face recognition devices (Sense Sensor 2A / compatible terminals) using an ADMS-style /iclock HTTP protocol, where device User IDs are mapped to internal student and employee records for accurate identity tracking.
The system also supports a push notification protocol to deliver real-time updates, along with scheduled automation for attendance processing and system workflows, ensuring continuous synchronization across all users.
